When was the last time you really slowed down, she wondered? When was the last time you turned off your phone, pried your eyes away from your Instagram feed, closed your laptop and looked around you? What would you see?
She had fallen asleep with her open laptop beside her, her phone on her chest and a half-written bog post suspended in cyberspace that became less and less coherent by the word. It was only after she’d woken up and frantically grabbed her phone to refresh her Facebook newsfeed that she started to ask herself how the girl who’d taken nature walks with her parents and built forts out of sticks had managed to become someone who sits inside chained to her devices all day. So, she turned everything off, made a gigantic cup of coffee and sat on her front porch in the sun.
She looked down at her Elysian Magazine Holder, overflowing with all of the science, travel and business magazines she’d subscribed to but never bothered to read. With the winter sun warming her face, she sat outside reading until late afternoon.
